Setting up a company in Georgia is the first step on your way to obtaining a residence permit. This involves setting up a sole proprietorship that you can use as a basis for your self-employment. With a minimum turnover of GEL 50,000 per year (approx. €17,500), you can sponsor yourself. Sole proprietors benefit from the particularly favorable small business regulation with only 1% tax on the first 500,000 GEL in sales.

The Right Bank Account for You

A Georgian bank account is also required. We usually recommend the package for 80 GEL per month or 800 GEL per year, as this already includes card delivery and will soon be possible again without extra charge for AMEX Platinum. Alternatively, there is the SOLO account from the Bank of Georgia. Your Residency Permit for Georgia

Applying for the Temporary Residency Permit

After you have setup your company and the turnover of at least 50,000 GEL has been reached, you can apply for the residency permit. For this application, your personal presence in Georgia is required. You also need a balance of €6,500 in your Georgian account. The processing time for the application is 10 to 30 days, depending on the option chosen.

Extension and Permanent Residence Permit

The initial residence permit is issued for one year but can be extended for up to 11 years. After 10 years, you have the option to apply for permanent residence – an ideal solution for those planning to stay in Georgia long term.

Remote Company Incorporation – Your Residence Done Remotely

If you are unable to travel to Georgia, we offer you the option of setting up the company and opening a bank account remotely by power of attorney. This saves you time and travel costs, as you do not have to travel to Georgia twice. We charge €3,000 for this service, which includes all other set-up costs. If you wish to extend your residence permit after one year, an additional €1,000 will be charged. After 10 years, you will be eligible to apply for permanent residency. If you already have a Georgian bank account, we will be happy to offer you a discount.

Costs

When setting up a company in Georgia, various fees are incurred for setting up a sole proprietorship, such as costs for a registered address, bank account and residency permit. The total government fees amount to 815 GEL. These are independent of the bank fees, which are incurred separately.

If you wish to carry out the incorporation and account opening completely remotely, we offer this service for €3,000 (including a registered address). Bank fees and official fees are not included in this amount.
